Week 4 - Auto Scaling, Route 53, DynamoDB, CloudFront & HA Architecture

Weekly Topic

Auto Scaling + Route 53 + DynamoDB + CloudFront + high availability architecture

Weekly Goals

  • Learn about EC2 Auto Scaling, Application Load Balancer, Route 53 DNS, DynamoDB, CloudFront, and High Availability architecture.

11/05/2026MonCreate launch template and Auto Scaling Group. Configure target tracking scaling policy. Set up Application Load Balancer with listener rules. Test scale-out, scale-in and health check in Lab 000006.Lab 000006 - Scaling applications with EC2 Auto Scaling
12/05/2026TueLearn Route 53 hosted zones and common record types such as A, CNAME, Alias. Configure basic routing policies. Set up hybrid DNS model integrated with VPC.Lab 000010 - Hybrid DNS management with Amazon Route 53
13/05/2026WedCreate DynamoDB tables with partition key and sort key design. Perform CRUD via console and CLI. Configure Global Secondary Index and compare on-demand vs provisioned capacity.Lab 000060 - Basic NoSQL with Amazon DynamoDB
14/05/2026ThuLearn CloudFront including distribution, origin and cache behaviors. Integrate CloudFront with static website on S3. Configure HTTPS with ACM and perform cache invalidation.Lab 000094 - Content distribution with CloudFront
15/05/2026FriDesign Multi-AZ architecture using ALB, EC2 and RDS. Configure target groups and listener rules. Deploy RDS Multi-AZ and test health check along with failover behavior.Lab 000101 - Building a High Availability web application

Expected Results

  • Understand how EC2 Auto Scaling, ALB and scaling policies work together in an elastic architecture.
  • Configure Route 53 DNS records and basic routing strategies, including hybrid DNS.
  • Work with DynamoDB table design, CRUD operations, secondary indexes and capacity models.
  • Use CloudFront to distribute content from S3 securely over HTTPS with cache management.
  • Build and verify a Multi-AZ web architecture with high availability using ALB, EC2 and RDS.
